About Us

Banner RegistrationSrei Sahaj subsidiary of SREI infrastructure has launched for the first time in India a job portal (CHAAKRI.CO.IN) for rural employment. There is a huge untapped rural manpower base available in India which requires mapping to prospective employers.

In the current scenario of business economy, wherein most of the companies are going towards 2 tire / 3 tire cities in order to have their expansions, SREI SAHAJ E-Village Ltd provides the job portal which will support the clients for maximum utilization of manpower resources in the rural belt.

SREI SAHAJ E-Village Ltd has taken a phenomenal initiative to make information and knowledge reach all corners of the country, and have developed into bridging the digital divide between urban and rural India. Its mission is to develop India’s Rural Infrastructure and provide employment to the rural people which basically comprises of Blue Category Work Force.

In synch with Sahaj’s mission of bridging the divide between rural and urban areas of India, Chaakri.co.in was conceived as a complementary service or a Value Addition aspect to the Government’s initiative of Rural Development through the National e Governance Plan. CHAAKRI’s backbone is a network of common service centers (CSCs) in public-private partnership with the central government and seven state governments. 15,000 CSCs are already up and running, more than halfway to its goal of eventually opening 27,000. "This is the largest such network in the world”. Chaakri will leverage its large network of village based internet kiosks which have already become a key grass root component of sourcing Blue Collar man power.

The youth in rural areas will register themselves and their CVs with the Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) who are running the CSCs in the states where Sahaj has set up the facilities. The employment generating portal has developed both a back-end and front-end facilities to service the requirement of job seekers among the rural masses. The model has a business development team which directly takes the opportunity in creating Job possibility from the client, and the Recruitment Team matches the requirement with the registered CVs that requires an ongoing interaction with potential employers.

Srei Sahaj has also undertaken skill building and upgradation of the rural youth to make them suitable for the relevant job. On the employment front, Chaakri starts by finding vacant jobs. Next, it locates the candidates, helping them to fill any skills gaps through its Sahaj Academies. The customer-facing operations of the academies are run from CSC premises. Some 50 academies are ready to go, while another 50 CSCs are moving to larger premises to accommodate the demand for these services. The centers enroll students, collect fees and provide the infrastructure. (Often, the CSCs have the only computer and Internet connection in a village.) The model is based on e-learning from a virtual studio; teachers provide lessons which are broadcast to the CSC classrooms. Students then receive hands-on training through, for example, local apprenticeships.

Thus the business model is based on the market driven demand, nitrating an exclusive system for a 360° solution after carrying out a skill gap analysis and providing suitable candidates to all the clients.

Chaakri.co.in has vacancies for sales executive, office assistant, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, courier boys, drivers, security guards, masons, fitter, welder, barbers etc. For rural women, it offers jobs such as front office executive, data entry operators, beauticians, healthcare assistants etc.

Chaakri would cater manpower requirement for various sectors like FMCG, FMCD, Telecom, Retail, Manufacturing, Construction, Facility Management, BFSI, etc.

Around 75,000 jobs have already been created through signing up with more than 160 companies in all India basis specially the 6 states: West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Uttar Pradesh from April 2009 to March 2010.By the end of the current financial year, this figure is expected to touch more than 1,50,000.

SREI Sahaj is building an ecosystem in education, which pertains to the emergence of an innovative business model through corporate social responsibility. This unique model is a path breaking initiative which as perceived might go on to become one of the most popular job portal in India and would also ensure spreading of investments beyond few designated cities in the India in turn guarantying better livelihood for the majority.
